Pra di Bosso Storico

Grapes only from the best hilly vineyards, a carefully selected combination of the area’s historic varieties and targeted, limited quantity production: these are the three main ingredients in the new Pra di Bosso Lambrusco given the name Storico – historic – in accordance with the Casali Viticultori winery which has been working in the Reggio area since 1900. ‘We’d been working on this new wine for some time with the objective of setting ourselves the task of creating a Lambrusco which is not only top quality but also highly characteristic of the area’, explained Marco Fasoli, Emilia Wine’s managing director.

The Pra di Bosso Lambrusco Reggiano DOP Storico – named after the box trees locally used to mark out the boundary lines between vineyards – is made by blending Lambrusco Salamino, Lambrusco Maestri and Malbo Gentile grapes grown in the best vineyard sites in the hills of Scandiano and the towns around it. After nearly ten days on the skins, Lambrusco Pra di Bosso Storico is given a second fermentation in autoclaves, using the charmat method, for 15 days at 16°C to conserve its lively aromas. Deep ruby red with classic purplish highlights, the wine succeeds in combining floral aromas such as violets with fruity notes like blackberries, raspberries and cherries. Crisp and lean in the mouth but also full-bodied, it is fruity and long in the mouth and thus highly versatile with food and can be paired with anything from big personality cold cut starters to pastas with meat sauces and main courses. With production limited to just 12,000 bottles, 6000 of which are numbered, it is enhanced by stylised graphics on the label paying homage to vineyard work and the corner of Emilia it is made in.
